  1. I'm just a bit surprised that nobody seem to have done a scientific approach to their brake setup rather then throwing out monies for a BBK (big monies at that...) I've seen people go down the Ksport route and failed also (still get brake fade and imploding hubs due to heat) If I get it right the BBK itself (bigger discs) will only help a bit to have more area to share the heat on, so it's only a question of a little bit longer out on track until you hit the same heat. From where I'm looking at the moment I'm thinking that brake ducts will make the biggest difference or get proper discs that can get rid of the heat quicker. (not go bbk just yet) I was interested to see if someone runs DBA's or PF discs see the same type of heat in their discs / calipers. (since they use different internal channels and the dba 5000's use a complete different floating setup) I'll see what the shims will do. The pads are up for the job (Fronts anyway) rears are probably ok only that they seem to need a good bit of clamp force to work properly so might swap them out for something different. what figures did you see when you measured? I might put the Z through a diet plan before going BBK anyway.
  2. And what do you see? Btw, saw a GTR Friday in Kirkistown running around, was driving it fairly hard. It shutdown two times?? Someone was saying it's the electronics in it shutting down, when it felt something wasn't right. Second time the discs where RED! First time I think it shutdown the fuelpump... Not sure if this was a badly tuned car (and support mods) or if it was the onboard computer playing hardball Sound of them mmmm
  3. Nobody monitor this? How do you know what you need to address?
  4. Had one today, on the bike! OMG LOVE IT!
  5. Hi guys, Do you monitor your discs and brake calipers heat during tracking? I did some monitoring on my last outing and found the following (obviously these figures are ballpark figures since heat might have gone out of the brakes before I got there with my temp gauge;)) After driving hard I found that my front discs came up to just shy of 500C and the calipers 200C (fronts). Rear came up to about 190 disc and 90 calipers. The fronts are grooved and dimpled rears are standard Brembo. So I'm within the limits of the fluid (hopefully) Running Motul RBF 660 that has a dry boiling point of 325C (wet 204C) What do you guys see? (and use) Note I think that due to my fronts holding up for longer I finally managed to bed in my rears I thought I'd managed to get them bedded in but after about 3 sessions (with cooling down properly) I saw the heat of front and rear discs, calipers getting similar heat, and braking felt much better (biased) (and heat numbers where far lower!)
  6. Right, so another pretty wet trackday finished Car cooling held up very well! Stable numbers on track and I think my bleeding and drilling made some difference! The new discs seems to be pretty good on track (compared to the Brembo OEM ones) Will need a Mondello outing to really be able to compare, but the track I was on knackers brakes quicker then Mondello, 2 really fast straights with back stretch see easily 200-210km/h (in my yoke). Not as technical as Mondello (Kirkistown) but a good laugh all the same. The onboard computer screen is working wonders on monitoring health of my car! Never bothered installing the titanium shims, will do that for the next one for sure and get back with the drill It's happy times in the Z
  7. think that might have the opposite effect...
  8. keep the launch and swap the lettering to something more pro looking. Let me know if you want me to shoot some vids, not that I know if it'll be any good to you
  9. I freak out since they're so uncommon over here! (and then throw skittles on their windscreen)
  10. Has this thread gone off subject a bit? Lol maybe aplit in two?
  11. what the hell does that mean? LOL We need two dynos now? one with a staggered pull and one without? LOL typicall neil... Neil:"I got xxx on my staggered pull" Victim:"dont know what mine would do, need to book into a dyno stag run" Victim down 40$ and now has 20hp more for the pub! Hahaha
  12. Love it... that evo will have a mad boost! Look at where the power comes in!
  13. Good news: went out for a spin yesterday to try the bleeding out It works FAR better then before so 100% no air in the system works wonders! I'm seeing about 5-10c lower (and more stable) readings. , bedded in the rotors a bit (discs) and so far they seem to be ok for what I use it. Bad news: mobo, it's gone tried it on a PC PSU and it's not starting, so RMA on that, in there they're good news though Ordered a more powerful mobo yesterday Notes: I can run this of my eee pc so will be using this on Friday for some logging!
  14. 99ron expensive to fill I'm guessing Would be nice if they had that rating over here! Would be happier if the re-introduce E85 though I've seen guys tune with E5 but been told to stay away from it due to it's varying quality from pump to pump... Don't think you UK guys have E5 or even E10 on offer over there? I'd like to see a nice quality E10 at the pumps! (would retune my car then!)
  15. Not sure it's that simple mate, not sure what you can or can't control with the uprev but would think the main bits are tuneable in both. It depends on the mapper a lot and how much time was spent on actually dyno.
  16. thought the thermal spacer was more for heat not power gain.
  17. shouldn't really be flaming though should it ? You got no o2 sensors? thought you needed them... Nah meant the four plugs for the exhaust cam timing, you do need them though Wouldn't mind looking at your map at some stage You got the dyno printouts? what fuel did you use? must be excited since you don't read it all well done anyway! What is the rev limit set to? Do you already have the uprev delimiter and throttle response done?
  18. thats loud! Lol Dont know if I like a staged pull! Well done to ame! Stick some dyno graphs up afr and the like. Wjat fuel did you map i too? Btw you dont need the uprev exhaust plugs do you? Send them on please
  19. welcome to the club! Will be interested to see the color change, something I've been thinking on doing to de-blink the engine bay a bit! Exhaust OEM'sh backbox with cutout with opening at boost pressure?
  20. it's deadly, think NEILP should watch this for his weight saving programme! haha Great bit of advertisement for the lads in advanceme! So they stuck a VTEC engine with a turbo in it and AEM ECU and made flipping 140whp... then he wanted more boost! lol 152whp at the end with 15% more chance of blowing it up rofl, love it. Is that 1k Tony's ride?
