Anyone reckon this is true? given how much money these things cost.

EVO mentioned a couple of months back imports are charged at pre 2001 VED bands, so it will save you a couple of hundred in road tax each year on an import... Something to do with the SVA test having no CO2 test, so without a CO2 reading the car can't be banded.

Have y'all seen this petition to No.10 against the unfair retrospective road tax?
Here's a link if not :

Maybe this could be made a sticky? The more signatures the better.

Spotted the schoolboy error and sorted it.... must have been the focus on the camera

Depends on what year the car is for 2009 either £300 or £400, from 2010 we'll all be paying £455.

AFAIK the changes still stand, no U-turn. I'm shocked at how little notice most people are taking of this! I tell everyone at work its not just my 3.5l monster that will be effected, but their 2l family hatch, but they dont seem to take any notice.
+1 Does seem to feel like if you talk about it people look at you like some mad man preaching about the end of the world.

Seeing as it's all gone a bit quiet in the press, anyone know if theres any news on a u turn/reduction on it?

They are being particularly active in the north east at the moment.
The annoying part is that the reasons they give are to combat terrorism and that misspaced plates restrict their ability to check for suspicious vehicles because the ANPR cameras cant read them which is obviously not true as they have done to be able to send the NIP.
Argh yes the terrorism card, the panacea for all the country's ills.

***UPDATE***
Just had a call from the dealership....
Nissan UK have never had this problem before..
They are very interested in having the complete box sent to Japan.
I am awaiting conformation that I will get a new box as a replacement.. This is imminent.
Hopefully all will be sorted soon.
Very good Comms from Marshalls service dept.
Great news, hope they can get the parts sourced asap for you.
-
Can't see why they are messing you around, it will be under Nissan manufacturer warranty... so it doesn't cost the dealer and they will get their labour covered by Nissan.
I've had a box replaced before on a Honda which was just coming up to the end of it's manufacturer warranty (dealer added a year on top at purchase)... I told them to do it quick before it hits their part of the warranty and their pockets, they replaced it and a full set of alloys as they were corroded too.
Got to stick on top of them though! hope you get it sorted.

i really like it.... i think its the size a bmw 3 series should be but obviously with time everything gets bigger.... but i think its a nice car especially in alpina white... think your bruvs made a good choice mate and no doubt its residuals will be awesome..
-ho
Totally with you there, had an E30 in the past, 3 series went a bit supersized after that. They still look small in America

p1ste i went with the megs carnauba wax, it lasted about a month. So i put some nxt2 on it after. I think i will give the paint cleaner a go next time as there are some staines under the paint wax which the clay missed
-
why didn't nissan put a handle to close the boot... save grabbing the paint
and the computer button would have been better on the steering wheel.

ESP is turned on by default... it comes in to early
Which it will do because it as to cater for the inexperienced driver
No problem in just switching it off, i rather like the idea its on by default and lets face it if you bent your zed because you forgot it was off by default, you would be blaming Nissan.
True, I'm no stig nor do I drive it like it's stolen, just does seem to come in more than i've noticed on other cars... things like off camber bends and fast turn in etc, probably a good thing really

Steering weighting spot on

The bose, sounds as good as it looks... cheap
ESP is turned on by default... it comes in to early, makes you look like you missed a gear off the lights!!
-
fog light?
edit -- doh! was thinking it was the button on the left

Could be the batteries, the first key that dropped off I replaced the battery on (CR2016).

An interesting thing I did find mind, is when I have my OBDII hooked up and pedal flat to the floor, it only ever says 88% throttle. Think I'm being robbed of 12% throttle somewhere
I wonder if that is proof of the Z dialling out mods... I've got an ODBII cable what program you using?
Curerntly using DashCommand (digital dash generator) and Centrafuse (has an OBDII plugin). Both give throttle percentage. One thing I am still sceptical about is what the number actually means.
Will try a throttle reset at some point and see if that gives us 100%. I doubt it will, but worth a punt
It's worse for me highest I registered was about 84% (used proscan)

One thing I noticed while doing it, is you can't see the lights flash as it doesn't illuminate the dashboard indicator signals. You just have to count how many times the indicator relay clicks (the relay click sound comes from the passenger side foot well).
