A friend of mine has just bought an Alfa 147 1.9JTD 08 plate with 30k miles for £7,500. Have to say, very impressed with it and it has a bit of character. Don't know about the reliability factor but thought it might be worth a mention?
No doubt others will come on and slate it........
thats sounds like a really good buy for an 08

I did look at a 2008 SRI Diesel Astra the other day.
Although it shifted a bit, the dash was made from reformed yoghurt pots, maybe with some margarine pots thrown in for good measure.
Heard a lot of horror stories about astras - chocolate gearbox being one of them.

Buy your Zed back and gas convert it
could always add a trailer to it too!

thanks for all the input fellas.....(as well as the entertainment!)
I had quick a look at a Series 1 yesterday, about 50k, FSH, dealer - £7600 but i just could not warm to the cabin at all. The past A3's and Golfs ive been in ive always liked them inside - with the 1er it just didnt feel right to me. Didnt take it out though, just a flying visit.
The sound of a diesel it gonna be HARD to get used to!!
I do really like the A3 S-lines. But seems really hard to find a low miler at a reasonable price?
Theres a 1.9 TDI Golf up the road from me, 50k FVWH, looks very tidy, but its only a 1.9, the lack of grunt worries me. I was thinking at least a 2L TDI as the 0-60 is under 10s. I know the 120D is fastest of the lot though at under 8 seconds.
Im now wondering if a lower priced petrol is the way to go, with the extra you pay for the diesel its so easy to get a newer petrol for getting on for £2k less.

Ive finally taken a deposit for my Zed and im not looking forward to getting rid one bit! ... it hadnt even done 30k! but practicality must now kick in....
So im now deciding what to get next....ive narrowed it down to either a
Golf
A3
BMW 1 series
budget 7k.
So anyone had much experience of any of the above? Good mpg and reliability is a must.
cheers

hope you get your sale. such a lot of car for the money mate..
Cheers veilside, very true!
For those who wondered why the price went back up - basically ive seen what you get for this kind of money and to be honest a lot are pretty poor to say the least. Although mines not perfect, its unabused and a steal for this kind of money. Oh and ive just taxed it!

Tax on imports
For those that are unaware - the DVLA have now changed it so that imported vehicles are taxed based on date of manufacture and no longer date of import. (too bloody right!)
I used to pay over £400 per annum, since last year i pay £260!

[Hi mate not sure if my last post went through due to me not having enough posts, I put a link into a blog on my car on OJC
http://www.outlawjapclub.co.uk/forum/sh ... php?t=7376
This has pics and most details on, it has tax until march 2012 and MOT til Apr 2012 (had no advisories or anything on last mot straight pass ) obviously due to the age parkers puts a private good price at £2250 so we could work something with this plus cash from myself.
Let me know if your interested dude
Hi Mate,
Cheers for offer - nice car though looking for something with a bit lower mileage and small engine - preferably a diesel as racking up the miles now!
Good look with sale though.
Cheers

Hi, I remember seeing your ad on the autotrader back in October while I was on the hunt for mine, there is no mistaking that bright green border! I am surprised to see it up for sale still, I did not enquire about it as the import thing was not for me (blame tiff on fifth gear), looks nice tho. Good luck selling
Hi George,
It was probably priced a bit high then - and i missed the best time of year to sell - Now the roads are dry and the suns out its gotta now be a good time! Dont really want to part with it though. Ive never had an issue with - best car ive owed by far.
Personally ive never thought of an "import" as being an issue - theyre all imports anyway - made in same factory by the same people using 99% the same parts. (Infact Japanese imports are often more highly specced than their UK counterparts, as the Japs are so obsessed with their techy stuff!). If the 350Z wasnt officially available in this country then i might be a bit worried about part availabilty, but even then theyre always the specialists to buy from.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi all,
Can anyone give me some pointers on fitting an oem boot spoiler?
I've heard of people just using 3m tape though I don't like the idea Of just using this!
What do I need? Can I buy a template and the mounting bolts etc? The spoiler has 2 bolts and 2 other mounting holes/ slots.
Cheers

Car gets picked up tomorrow afternoon I really am completely gutted!
Im half tempted to say i've changed my mind and keeping it....
Shouldnt i be allowed some fun...im not gonna be saving that much money by getting a diesel! Why does the girlfriend live so far away damn it!
Quick someone talk sense to me...can i really live with an A3 or Golf diesel after the Zed....maybe ill have to get an S-line just to try to ease the blow a little.
