  1. Can u let us know if it still kangaroo's after having the work done? I've not had the recall and mine hops all over the place when pulling away gently in 1st. Cheers!
  2. mileage = 1100 petrol = v-power Car is practically brand new so can't believe it's a fault. Also I'm not touching the clutch when this happens so can't believe it's that either.
  3. Hi guys, Had my Z about 6 weeks now, still loving it, especially when the sun's out and I can get the ragtop down, but on a few trips down the A303 recently and getting stuck in jams, I've noticed a problem when crawling along in 1st gear. If I just let the car creep forward on idle everything's fine, but then when I squeeze the accelerator to speed up slightly, the car lurches and bunny-hops like I'm learning to drive. It's really embarrasing! If I put my foot down harder I can drive through it but then I have to slam on the brakes so I don't hit the geezer in front. I just want to be able to gently add a little speed and take it off again without braking, mainly when in a jam. It almost feels like there's a load of play in the transmission. I don't know whether it's a specific problem with my car or something more general - I noticed in this post someone complaining about the same thing, so does anyone else suffer from this? http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6187&highlight=juddering Cheers, Paul
  4. Did anyone go? I had to entertain a customer tonight in glorious Amazingstoke. :-(
  5. No recall letter here yet, my seatbelt tag says Dec 07. I have noticed the brakes are a bit squidgy though, they just don't feel as good as I was expecting considering it's got these Brembo calipers.
  6. Cheers Rob, I haven't forgotten - maybe sometime over the summer? I guess we need a day when it's not too sunny though as I don't have any shade round my place (almost need a gazebo to keep the sun off it - hmmm there's an idea!). :-) Cheers, Paul
  7. Well I've never had a new car before so never really bothered doing the washing thing properly, but I had enough time tonight to give it a quick rinse and wash, no time for polish or wax unfortunately, but I did the 2 buckets thing using a proper wash mitt, then rinsed and dried with a microfibre and I'm amazed how good it looks compared to previous efforts. I also used soft water and that seems to have made a hell of a difference too. No nasty water stains this time. I was astounded by how much crap there was at the bottom of the rinse bucket, and the water was black. The soap bucket had nothing in the bottom so this method quite clearly has it's merits. One thing I've noticed in the past is that you only truly get to know a car when you wash it, and tonight I found a tiny nick in the paintwork on the drivers door. It's tiny but the car is only 4 weeks old so I was pretty annoyed when I found it. I can only surmise that someone has scratched it walking past (it could be the kids that cycle past it on their way to the playing field by my house). My fingernail catches on it so it's pretty deep, but you wouldn't notice it unless I pointed it out - trouble is I know it's there. Are there any miracle products on the market that can "rub out" these kinds of scratches?
  8. Wow, looks like you guys had a great time there. How many of you turn off the ESP when you're on the track? Are you confident in your abilities to stop going off and hitting something? I must admit I am surprised just how much it kicks in just during general driving - I think I'm so used to the 4WD and massive grip of the GTO that it's probably a good idea I keep it on most of the time else I think I may have gone into a hedge by now, although it is bloody annoying when it does kick in and I lose power!
  9. Nowt wrong with a bit of MJ! Any tracks in particular you like blasting out? Ooooh, can I feel a hijack going on here?
  10. Good luck with the sale buddy. It's a lot of car for the money. It makes me cry just how little E39's go for these days. I p/x'ed my 1998 520i SE with 168,000 on the clock (still running like a dream) for £700! I think if I had ever managed to sell it privately, I would have been lucky to get £1500 for it.
  11. Yeah it does seem really unfair that they are making this tax increase retrospective - they should really just start it for new cars. Penalising people for their car choice 3 years ago is really unjust. FWIW, my old 1995 GTO kicked out God knows how much co2's, I would only get 220 miles a tank (£70 of V-Power thanuverymuch) and I'd STILL only have to pay £185 in tax. If they are trying to tax polluters shouldn't they have gone for people like me rather than Mr. & Mrs. Farty in their 1.8 Mondeo? I had to pay £400 for my Z this year, £440 next year I think, so they are along the right lines for new cars and I accept that (they have to do something to discourage us from buying polluting cars so I am actually in agreement with their policy here), but they shouldn't be hitting people that have already bought cars several years ago. It does worry me that we will leave this planet in a right old mess for our children, so the governments of the world HAVE to encourage us to change our ways by hitting us in the wallet. I'm getting all this performance car fun under my belt while I can still afford it - when car tax goes up to £1000+/yr (it is going up to nearly that in 2010 for the 1st year) that's when I'll probably go for a Yaris or some other piece of sh1t! :-) Having said that, I have a mate who lives in Singapore, it's costs a fortune to run a car out there but that's not stopped him, or them, they still have massive traffic jams, so who knows what the answer is. :-(
  12. Yeah, what happened here? If you lost I'd ring up the Daily Mail and get them to run one of their bloody campaigns! ;-)
  13. I noticed that most of these turbo kits only seem to run at around 7-8 PSI. That seems quite low, is there scope for running at higher boost levels? Is 8 PSI enough? Is the pope a catholic? What the bleedin' hell am I going on about!
  14. I had one of those Alliance & Leicester PCP's a few year back, it worked well for me but that was back in the days when loans were 12% APR and I couldn't afford to borrow the whole lot. They don't seem to do them now anyway so I looked at a PCP from my Nissan dealer but it actually worked out cheaper and more flexible for me to borrow the money from my mortgage. I've got one of those Woolwich OpenPlan offset jobbies and I can take a chunk out and just pay it back as I please. I've already overpaid the first months installment and hope to overpay the rest (but it's my choice whether I do so or not and could take a break for a month if I wanted to). The APR is over 1% cheaper than with the dealer's PCP, but the best thing is that because I effectively paid cash for the car there's no HPI outstanding, so I can sell it without having to clear the finance first. Of course this only works if you are EXTREMELY disciplined with the repayments - you do not want to be paying it back over 25 years! I aim to have the majority of the balance paid back in 2 or 3 years, so when I sell the car I'll be able to clear the oustanding balance and put down a deposit for something else. If you've got an offset mortgage it's worth considering, especially if it's a base rate tracker as it could be cheaper than a normal loan or PCP (assuming the base rate doesn't go up too much).
