I always understood that cats should be present for an MOT anyway.... Maybe I'm wrong. You can always to see if he has used OEM Cats. Or for HFCs. I guess it depends if you want to swap cats every year or do the job and leave it done.

My mate recently got done for 80mph in a 70. Be warned, that's what Cruise Control is for. He also picked up another 3 points that day and a puncture.......

I'd look at the car battery too. It does do the crazy tick when it's low. The engine is a big one to crank so if the battery isn't good it won't go.

Nice! Last year, actually it was Sep 2010... I did 'Frisco to Vegas via San Diego. Stayed in Carmel near Pebble Beach and then Santa Barbara on the way and also had a few days in Palm Springs. Did Highway 1. Brilliant road. Visited Grand Canyon, was going to do choppers but they weren't flying that day due to wind. Did the sky walk which was quite cool but very expensive - the native americans are making a killing at the canyon. Agree that Freemont Street is a must. So is a show. We did one of the Cirque shows and it was ace, the half price ticket places was recommended by our hotel Concierge, we ended up getting a few things from them and it was a total bargain. I've never been bored in the states!

My Dad and I painted the floor of their current house when we moved in in August 99. It still hasn't peeled and looks perfect. It has the snow blower on it, BBQ and loads of other stuff on one side which put crap all over it. The other side has always had the toys (Stag and SL) stored and as the toy is used it's been run over loads.
