Sounds silly but volunteer work might help keep her busy and make her feel better. Nothing gives you a warm fuzzy feeling like helping people. If any money making opportunities came along she can cut down on the voluntary stuff and get herself back into the working mindset. If her admin work was specialised (accounts etc) then she might be able to help a small business (think sole traders in trade jobs etc) keep up their books or something.
