  1. Hi, welcome to the site. Another rag top owner, yay!
  2. The problem is I hear the RE040's are tough as old boots and dont wear down quickly - and Ive got two sets to chew through!
  3. Ive not dealt with m first set yet! LOL I know I probably paid over the odds, but it was very convenient being just down the road, and also I like the OEM look. I like to blend in... LOL. The are only £1k from a dealer if you buy them with the car, if you want to buy them later, they want £1k per wheel.
  4. Hi, I recently bought a set of rays, with only 3k miles on the rubber, unmarked, they cost me £990. They have gone for less, but if you are in the local area of someone who wants a set (as was the case with the chap who sold me mine) you should be looking at maybe up to and over a grand. Bare in mind these are a £1k option, andif you want to buy them new from Nissan, they quote £1k per wheel. If these are the 06 alloys you are talking about, then you may be looking at even more than £1k, as they will be rare as hens teeth. And certainly attractive for those with pre 06 cars and standad wheels.
  5. Im starting to think that it could take off... But then again maybe not.... As the plane starts to move forward, the speed of the conveyor increases and moves it back at the same rate. It makes no difference where the thrust comes from - the conveyor can still counteract the thrust by way of moving the plane back at the same rate it attempts to move forward. head hurts now, and I have to get some work done!
  6. If you could get a big enough fan, and tie a plane to the ground with a long chain.. if the fan blows hard enough, you could get the plane to lift off the ground. What a surreal conversation... LOL
  7. I find it weird too... Why a bunny smilie? Why does it have a pancake on its head, and why does it show its bum? Weird. Ahh well, one of those things.. LOL
  8. My vote is No. A plane takes off due to how air flows over its body and wings, in a nutshel the air takes a longer route over the plane than it does under it, which creates lower pressure above the plane, and higher pressure below it. This causes the plane to lift. Its excatly what happened to the lemans car some years ago that went of the track, it acted like a plane wing, and took off. No air going over the plane and its wings, no lift, no take off.
  9. So I tell my missus.... Just before I get a slap.
  10. Yes yes - but you aren't feeling my presents....
  11. Looking at that lower picture, it looks like it has an electric motor (notice the little red wire) I have not heard of, or seen that before. In my opinion the spring loaded ones are a bit feeble, so maybe this is better, but still $280 for that? Its quite expensive.
  12. I get wind noise too.. Its also quite draughty too, can get quite cold without the heater on. If I put the roof up though, it cures the problems. Seriously though, I can only compare the wind noise to a previous convertible, the MX-5. The wind noise on the Z is far less than the MX-5, and very good for a rag top. With the roof down, its similar, but the exhaust note is better!
  13. Only speed issue I have seen is down to my broadband at home - which fluctuates between half decent and none existent! Ruddy BT
  14. I think it is a matter of personal prefference. Im not too bothered about blanking out my number plate in pictures etc, or people posting my number plate.. Others though, do wish to keep it private on an internet forum. I think the suggestion is to not post the full number plate of a car that does not belong to you, just in case the owner is one of those who would rather err on the side of caution. As I say its just personal prefference.
  15. I haven't experienced that, mind you I haven't got it sideways yet. You are certainly a braver man than I !
  16. I have to say I'm impressed with the flexibility of the company - and a warranty! Cant say fairer than that. Its still not something I would personally go for (as Im a scaredey cat) but for many the flexibility of being able to do it on finance and still have a warranty has to be good. The more options there are into the tuning market, the more popular it will become.
  17. Agree with the above - black looks stunning when clean and waxed up. But is a bugger to keep it that way for long. The lighter colours never seem to have that deep shine, but they have the advantage when it comes to not showing the stone chips. Mine is only a few months old, has less than 4,000 on the clock and the stone chips on the front are already annoying me. You have to go for the colour that you like though, there is no point in going for a colour you arent very comfortable with just for the sake of a few marks, or because it may not shine as well as the others.. Whichever you go for, its a Z, and that will be enough to draw the admiring glances, no matter what colour it is.
  18. Steve Jones is our resident Ice Guru, perhaps he has some information that could help - maybe a PM?
  19. I think too many started to be run into trees and other cars rather than into the ground... It was when the late eighties and early nineties that they started churning out mums shopping cars with bigger engines but the same brakes and safety gear (which kept the cost down). They were cheap enough for kids to buy, but were easy to smash...
  20. Hi Dom, Welcome to the site. I hope you enjoy the community here as much as we enjoy bringing it to you. We should be organising some meets very soon. Now where is our meets organiser.... He is around here somewhere..... lomoto is his name.... On a serious note, there are quite a few members in and around the Midlands area, so we should be able to organise some well attended meets, and I personaly look forward to putting a lot of names to faces. Chris.
  21. Only issue I have is the short ramp/kerb up to the drive. If taken slowly its fine, butat more than 5mph and you will scrape the front, at 10mph I can scrape the front of my standard mk-IV golf.
  22. 14K a year! What is your age, if you dont mind me asking? Mine costs just under £600, its in the missus name with me as second driver, as I have to insure the company car in my name. Its got a limited mile policy (set at about 5k I think at the moment) but whether that makes any difference I dont know. Im 27, Misus is 32. Live in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
  23. At the weight of the car its got to be approaching/overtaking supercar territory.
  24. Same here, at the moment once every couple of weekends, looks pretty filthy, but come the summer, she will be treated well...
  25. Hi, welcome to the site! Glad to see you enjoying the Z experience, Im a relative newbie myself, having only owned the car a couple of months, and doing only about 500 miles in it myself (the missus has it as a daily drive) Thanks for taking the time to join up, I hope you enjoy the community here!
