Actually - Tesco supply you with a badge that proves you can use the space with their consent when the missus is about six minths pregnant or thereabouts. It makes getting in and out of the car with a baby bump a lot easier.
-
The fact im up at 3:10 with a wide awake little one would demonstrate otherwise... maybe that's a reason why im so grumpy about it The child being old enough to walk is no reason for not using the space either as they still have to get that child into a car seat, which will also require more room at the side of the car to aid them in and out of it.
-
If that happened when I was taking Tracys dad anywhere (needs a disabled spot as he cant walk properly) - I would probably nip to the nearest garage, buy the toughest wheel clamp I can find, strap it on their car and throw the keys down a drain. After writing some suitable message on the clamp.
-
I had exactly the same problem with the widths of spaces before I had the use of the Parent and Child bays - and indeed when Lewis isnt with me. If I want to avoid door dings, I just park further away and walk, or look for an end space and park as far over as I can. The disabled and P&C spaces are wider because they physically need the space to get children and or car seats in & out of the car. Im going to get into an argument with somebody in a car park over this issue before long I can see it coming.

I may have just noticed this more recently for obvious reasons, but what is it with people using spaces (specifically parent and child) that actually have no reason to do so? I can honestly say Ive never used a space designated for parent and child, or disabled without having cause to do so (when taking disabled passenger to shops etc). Over the last few days Ive found it infuriating to see people returning to or just leaving cars in the parent and child spaces that have no reason to be using them. Ive needed the space to get the pram and or child seat out, and without the space of the parent and child spaces, its a case of choosing a spot that has an empty one on either side so I can get Lewis and puschair out etc. This can cause an issue when I return if cars have parked either side (not their fault). It has actually made my blood boil twice today. I swear Ill invest in a winch before long and just drag an offending vehicle out of a space in future.

Congratulations you two!

I wouldnt bother. You can get early 360 coupes for little over the price of a 370z now. You'll end up putting a lot of effort and a wad of cash into something that will not be a Ferrari. The interior will never look like a 360, neither will the engine, and it certainly wont sound like a flat plane v8 either. The day you are out driving around in the sun and a real Ferrari pulls up alongside, then you will feel like you want the earth to open up and swallow you up. You would be better off just getting the standard MR2, and tuning it up to be faster than a Ferrari - it will put a bigger smile on your face and you wont be driving round playing "lets pretend" all the time. Once word gets out the Ferrari you are driving is a fake - you will just be laughed at imho, and you'll want to sell it.

Ive filled mine with 78% nitrogen for years and its been excellent for me

Now these could be fun The weight of the Juke-R is however higher than that of the GTR, so wouldnt it just make more sense to spend £80k on a GTR than 50% more on a Juke-R anyway?

I bit like the 205 Dimma kits back in the day too

Apparently its some businessman who likes his "modified" cars. An ex pat that spends a lot of time in Marbella - according to the various sites that have photos of this hideous creation. Car TranSpain on the side of the transporter would suggest he's had it brought back to the UK for the summer here. The interior contains lots of bright pink too !

My experience of the NHS has largely been very, very positive. My mother has had breast cancer twice, and the NHS care she received was excellent, my son was brought into this world by the NHS, and the care Tracy had during pregnancy and throught the days we were at the birth centre was also excellent. Ive gone private to "jump the queue" on getting some tests done myself, and can see the benefits of going private, if only for the sake of speed. If you have something weighing heavily on your mind and want an answer, then being told you have to wait 2 months for an appointment with a specialist is not good for your mental health at all. Cutting the queue by going private for the sake f a few hundred pounds in my case, saved me weeks of mental anguish. So why are the waiting lists so long in the NHS and why does it find itself the subject of cuts? In my opinion its all to do with where else we spend money, and how much we spend. The total spent on social welfare in this country exceeds the total ammount of income tax received, and theat excludes items housing etc - it is just welfare - i.e. benefits. How it is possible to preside over a system where more is spent on handouts than is actually taken in income tax is ridiculous. The ammount spent on benefits including housing in this country exceeds the ammount spent on health and education combined! Thats a reason. Want an example of how perverse the system is - have a look here, under "Employment, Jobseekers, contact jobcentre plus" http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/employment/ ... /dg_186347 The first two thirds of the page are about ensuring people get their benefits, and how they go about it. You actually have to scroll down before you even come to a small section on actually getting a job. And here was me thinking it was the JOB centre.

Close. People get invited if the team as a whole think that as part of said team, that individual can help the whole club, not just the team.
-
Nope, it was because Tracy and myself had just left an mx5 owners club where you had to pay a fee, that we didnt feel we got much value for money from. We looked for and found a 350z club when we swapped the mazda for the zed, only to find it just at the time it was becoming a paying club. Set this one up for myself and a couple of like minded other owners, and the rest is history. Was never banned from another site
-
That is true, but you also cant go charging a membership fee without immediately having some benefits available for it and just bringing it in on the promise of jam tomorrow. History has also made us acutely aware that moving from a free forum to a paid membership is a very dangerous move, and could spell the reduction in popularity of our club. Let us not forget how this very club came into the world. It was always to be free for the members, and always cheap to advertise for companies. That way it makes it popular and self sufficient. There are also examples of forums out there that are much, much bigger than our own that are also free for people to be part of. Having a differing level of administration is something that can possibly be looked into again, but this is also going dangerously close to invoking the hierarchy that we sought to avoid too.

But by having elections for an additional mod, would we not just have someobody "popular" on the team instaed of somoene "capable" ? If anything, Riceys suggestion of having people put their hat in the ring would be a good idea - but I also wouldnt want to see the removal of the teams ability to invite people to join. Very often the best people are those that "do", without being asked to. They may also not put themselves forward for an election as they are unaware of how well respected they are by the members and how much they have done for the club.
-
This is probably the best compromise posted. It may indeed bring some names to the teams attention that we hadnt considered, but it would also possibly exclude those who we do consider. There are those out there that have been asked if they want to be part of the team, or even new roles like head events organiser etc that have graciously declined the offer as they feel they dont have the time. Its certainly something we could look at. Do people think we need a larger team at the moment? What specific aspects of the club/forum need improvement? If I were to pick an area it would be regional meets and national show attendance. We have some on the team that do a good job at organising attendance at national shows and meets, but sadly they do sometimes find themselves very busy and unable to organise event attendance etc.

Having a payment element does not automaticaly make a club popular or successful. There are several examples of clubs that have a paid membership that are effectively ghost towns in terms of active posts. Our concept was to provide a free resource for owners funded by the the revenue received from traders who pay to be here and the merchandise we sell. We have a suggestions area, and as has been said we do review them all. From simple smiley icons to major changes such as the garage addition etc. Some are technically possible, and some are not, without subjecting the server to unnecessary load, which could lead to increased running costs, and certainly a lot of extra admin time in coding. If there are a lot of people who want to provide a lot of help, ideas and suggestions, then I would direct them to the suggestions area of the forum. If you want to know my position on elections for the team running this club, then I would be against them. Private organisations dont hold elections to see who should be made a team leader, thats left for organisations such as councils and governments. It then becomes a farce every time election time comes round with people doing too little too late to try and get the votes, people putting themselves forward because they want the position rather than feeling they may be any good at it. Given how much this club has grown over the years, and how popular it is, then I assume the team have been doing something right and I'd like to see it continue in it's current format. Is there room for improvement? Probably. Th question is how we identify and realise these improvements. The team aren't here to dictate how the forum grows, which events are attended etc, they are here to serve the club in the best interests of the members - without feedback we have to guage what those interests are. Its the reason that the suggestions section exists. In my opinion, annual elections of the team would prove for a major distraction away from what the team should be doing. Any great ideas would be put on hold prior to election time, because whats the point if they are going to be out of a job next week? Who is going to spend the time each year teaching the new mods how to use the moderator control panel? The ones that are on their way out, or the ones left behind?

Also Neil if you would like the role of a meets organiser, which is something that always helps the club then that could well be useful. You could discuss with Vik and Jay what it entails and how you think you could help them in the Scotland area. The more we get the clubs name out and about and the more people actually enjoy their cars as part of the club, the better the club becomes overall. Same goes for anyone who has the time and believes they can make a positive difference for the club - nobody has to wait to be asked to help. If you have some great ideas or even just want to offer any help with any aspect of the club. We cant promise to accept all offers of help, but they are all most certainly welcome.
